about the rpm meter

Dear cg;This is what's going on!O.k i heard it's not good to go over 60 mph in the coupe.But this is what i noticed!I noticed when the car is in overdrive the rpm meter stays at two in a half when pushing between 55-60.But when i turn off the o.d the engine seem's to rev higher at 3rpm's when doing 60.At first when i got the car i thought something was wrong! but this mechanic told me that was normal for the 94 cam coupe.So when i'm on the beltway i don't like to go past 60 and i find other cars passing me like i'm going to slow.And i think it's not good to drive in overdrive if you arent driving in the snow!So now i've explained my theory so is ok to drive over 60 when she's reving at 3 or it's ok to drive in overdrive?What do you reccomend?

Hello, The snow shouldn't have any effect on the overdrive. It is okay to drive your car at 3000 rpm. Don't look at the rpm's as much as simply feeling the way the car is driving. It will let you know if it's not happy going a certain speed. In short, it's fine to drive at 3000rpms. Just listen to the car rather than watching the rpm meter quite as much. You've got quite a way to go to get to the red line. =) Best of luck! CarGrrl
