Toyota camry can only start with a jumper

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dad's 1990 camry can only start with a jumper. Without a jumper, it
doesn't crank and the battery seems very week. The battery was replaced a
month ago. Could it be the alternator?

I would clean the battery terminals and check and clean the cable ends. Replace the cables if they are cracked or loose and cannot be tightened up. It could be the alternator and your can remove it and take it into an auto parts store for testing.

If you have an amp gauge or a voltage meter on the car check and see what they show. If the amps are neutral or positive then your alternator is good. The voltage meter should show around 14 volts if the alternator is good.
