want to know if 3.0 and newer v-6 have timing chain or belt

Hello whatever-- The 2001 Toyota Avalon has a timing belt and it is recommended that it be changed every 90,000 miles. The Avalon engines are of the "interference" type, so you absolutely do not want to have one snap while you are driving. Good luck from Bovan.
