Is it safe for my 28 year old daughter to drive a 1996 Avalon
I can afford to buy a slightly used car for my daughters (28 and 31) but they
want to keep driving the 1996 Avalon that was their grandfather's. Is a 1996
Avalon as safe as a newer model? What's a (well-meaning) mother to do?
IMO, If the car is inspected and in fine running condition with decent brakes and tires, they should be fine.
In addition, at 28 and 31 years old they're old enough to make their own choices! HTH. -Jim
If the tires, brakes and suspension and seatbelts are all in good shape, the car is safe. Reliability is another factor to consider. Newer cars are safer but I would not hesitate to trust a 1996 Avalon.
