Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 4runner that is at 120k and the chain
belt went.  What is the estimate cost to
replace..parts and labor, or does replacing the
whole engine better?

Timing chain replacement $600 low mileage salvage engine $500 If you bought it new and took great care of it replace the chain. If its a second or third hand vehicle who knows if its had care... change the engine.

Aito_centric thanks for response...follow up: I am the only owner as I bought it new...kept good care of it and I worked a mile from my home round trip, so for a 16 year old car it only has 120k. Is the 600 mention for chain only? Or does this include labor?
