fwd won't engage on 90 fourrunner is it vacum or the wire that is broke off the nut on the front dif

the light stopped coming on the dash at the same time that I noticed the broken wires that goes into a big nut on the front differential. Is it some kind of actuator or silenoid? is it easiliy taken out?

You might be correct on the wire. It should go into an actuator in the front diff. Should be easy to remove. See if you can reconnect the wire and solve the problem that way first.
