2006 Chevy Trailblazer Stalls while driving or sitting

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Chevy trailblazer that randomly shuts off while driving or just sitting there. Have taken it to 3 mechanics and they have no clue what is going on. When they plug into it to read any codes, the one that came back was the crankshaft sensor which was replaced. We've had the ignition switch, throttle body sensor(Think that's what it's called), crank shaft sensor replaced and cleaned the throttle body. Still doing it! Can ANYONE tell me why this is happening????

I have to put it into neutral and it usually starts. Only a couple of times has it not. I would have to pull over and let it sit for like 5 mins and then it would start.

Have you had the fuel pressure checked?Sounds like you may have a faulty fuel pump, meaning when it gets hot will shut car down,it would be random depending on how much fuel you have in the SUV.

We haven't checked that. The rpm drops and stops working sometimes too, would that also cause that to bre happening?

Once you vehicle cuts off, then cranks back up,it kills the fire to the pump for a few seconds, and then you are able to crank and go on a ways,

You know we have been to 3 different mechanics and not one of them ever suggested that. My husband and I are going to try that and see if that fixes the problem thank you so much for your input

Did any of you above ever figure out what The problem was? I have an 06 trailblazer it has a brand new battery brand new gears or crankshaft I’m not sure what it’s called and it randomly turns off on me and if I am sitting idol the battery needle drops where are sometimes the car shuts off then too. Some days it doesn’t do it at all but it usually only does it once or twice a day and then it’s fine. I have begun to notice however that it usually shuts off when I am in mid turn not sure if that means anything any suggestions would be appreciated! It can be quite scary at times depending on where I am at when it happens and especially if I have my 2 little ones with me!

Hi, Having same issue over last couple weeks. Have 06 trailblazer and It suddenly stalls out while driving. Almost been in a few accidents coasting to side of road. It will start back up after a few minutes of sitting there. Also having issues when starting up first thing. Starts/stalls/starts/stalls. Have been to local Midas shop, they say battery/alternator are fine and their computer reads engine OK. Seriously thinking about looking for another vehicle. Can’t have it suddenly stall out on the highway.

Mine was doing all the same things Battery dying loosing power while driving I cleaned the ground on the wall by the battery It was caked with green powder so I removed it and sandpapered the wall and the flat ground prong Then I removed fuse 10 & 28 both and the negative terminal cleaned the ICM with carburetor cleaner and wiped it down with a paper towel. Put it back in put it back together replaced the battery terminal and fuses waited a couple minutes after starting for everything to reset to normal functions runs great!
