Dashbord Warnings on at the same time: Battery. Car Lock & ABS

Asked by KMackey Dec 24, 2015 at 06:05 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On Yesterday while driving my battery light came on so I immediately took
it to autozone to have it checked. But they had to charge the battery
because the pm voltage was too low to test that was about . And autozone
suggested that my alternator may need to be  done but I just had it done a
month and a half ago. Hours later at 5am while taking my son to work my
car lock, abs, battery light all came on. Let just say it was a task to turn my
car around to get back home and park it. But I made it. Can someone help
me please.

You need to determine why the battery's charge was low. Is it bad battery, defective alternator, a problem with the alternator drive belt? I would take a close look at the alternator electrical connections and have the alternator tested as it may be defective.

This would happen to me in my 07 Malibu LTZ, also my engine power would be limited on other occasions. I had many low voltage codes. In the end it was such a simple fix. My power (+) side post on my battery had been cross threaded at the factory and was arcing with the battery. My mechanic pulled the old post and screwed a new one in as I watched and I never had another issue.

have a 2000 chevy malibu 3.1L V6 engine. My stater went out and i replaced it a week ago, the day after i did that, my battery light came on and my car kept dying. got my battery and alternator tested, ended up replacing both. My battery light is still on and i still die often enough to where i cant even drive my car. It starts out with my battery light and then all of my dash lights come on and then my car starts to idle even more and then my RPM will jump to 5. when that happens my car dies. im not sure what is wrong with my car or how to fix it and i could really use some help.
