My 2002 H6 (235000 klm) with blown head gasket. Found out when replacing the radiator. Heats up max soon after take-off. Would you suggest a total rebuild when replacing the head gasket?
No, just double check the work and make sure everything was put back correctly. If everything looks good, start checking cooling fans and coolant flow
Make sure the head is checked for warp and cracks. Surface prep of the block and heads is really important and be sure and use modern multi layer gaskets. If you really want to be thorough replace the head bolts and do both sides of the engine.
Thank you - much appreciated!
