suburu overheating

2002 2.5 Suburu 2.5   overheats w thermostat installed but not with it removed

Bought car cheap with reported overheat issue. Tstat obs codes. Did block test blue fluid did NOT turn yellow. Installed new tsat and found none in previous. Didn’t overheat w it out. Overheated w it in.
