battery drain

battery dies after 1 day unless disconnected in which case it holds charge fine for extended layoffs -
would seem to be something draining even when car turned off - ring any bells ? suggestions before I put the ammeter on and start pulling fuses

I have exactly the same issue with my 2000 Subaru Outback Limited Wagon. I just started a couple of weeks ago. I replaced the battery with new one... same issue.

I had that problem with my 1997 Subaru Legacy 2.5L GT. I had the alternator replaced after changing the battery. It worked fine.. and was also a recall issue with my model. Also if you have a Subaru Security system in your car it could be the security system that has gone bad. I eventually had to have mine disconnected; they won't remove it because I was told it will most likely damage the electrical system in the car. Taking care of those two issues resolved the battery drains, but it wasn't the battery. Good luck.
I have bought more batteries driving Subaru's than any other car, I have a 2017 now with a dead battery.
I have a 2017 Subaru Outback limited Wagon The battery has gone dead more times than all of my other cars and trucks put together in 58 years. the dealership just tell me when I get out just turn everything off.(it does not work). They can not pinpoint the problem. My answer is to buy a Toyota
