Engine swap/tune

Asked by Terry Oct 08, 2018 at 01:43 AM about the 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i AWD

Question type: Car Customization

Hey all, I have an 05 Subaru Legacy sedan 4 door. The car has a lot of
sentimental value to me as it was one of my grandparents cars which was given
to me when they died, it is also my first and only car ive been driving for 7 years.
I now want to turn it into a project/sleeper car. I am wondering if I am able to
swap out my current engine for a much better one (i want around 350 hp).
I am not a car guy so please don't get angry, also money isn't an issue so please
dont respond with "its possible but it'll be expensive."

Thank you for input

It is a hunk of metal and not worth the trouble. Getting attached to a vehicle, especially one with absolutely no collectors value is not a good thing. The Subaru uses a boxer style engine and that (size) will limit what is available to put under the hood. A WRX engine might be an option. I would suggest joining and doing some on the Subaru forums. We don't offer much help on this forum regarding engine swaps because there are too many variables.
