Subaru legacy engine compatibility

Asked by Lyubomir Feb 17, 2019 at 01:35 PM about the 2001 Subaru Legacy L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey everyone. So I've been looking at a 2001
Subaru legacy l sedan. But it has 240k miles on it
and the engine is having issues. I've found a used
engine on offer up but it's an ej253 and the one on
legacy is ej251. I was wondering if I will be able to
swap those two without having any issues. All
replies will be appreciated)) Thanks

The EJ253 has active intake valves which the EJ251 does not. If you want to do this be sure and get the 253 wiring and ECU.
