1999 Subaru Legacy runs fine but after engine gets hot in hot weather, it won't start

Asked by clouross Aug 03, 2015 at 09:17 PM about the 1999 Subaru Legacy L Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Subaru Legacy L.  It starts fine and most of the year no problem.  But as soon as hot weather comes it starts and runs fine until I have driven for apprx.80 miles and I stop and turn the vehicle off, then it is completely dead.  No clicking or anything.  The windows, lights and radio work but car does nothiing.  We began by replacing the battery.  Then I had a mechanic tell me it was the starter, so that was replaced.  Now the same thing, I can jump it and it will start up.  It never runs hot and I keep an eye on the gauge.  Help, not sure where to turn
