the red battery light turns on and off intermittently. cobalt 2006 LT, could my alternator be failing?

I would check battery terminals & terminal wires, grounds to frame/body from battery & engine, Check alternator connections look for bare wires, corrosion ect. May be time to get the alternator tested and if battery is older it too, may be a early sign of pending issue on the way.HTH
