I have a 2006 chevy cobalt and i noticed
that the temp was starting to run high.
Check the antifeeeze and it was low filled
it up and it did fine. But i go through 1 gal
every other week. Now my car is starting
to have issues starting. What could this
be. Also it was flashing power steering on
the dash
This means that you have a coolant leak. You will need to inspect around and under the engine for an external leak. It could be a hose, radiator, heater core, or the engine itself. You may need to have the system pressure tested. If the leak is not an external leak, then there is an internal leak in the engine. Check the exhaust pipe for white smoke. This could be a head gasket or a crack inside. Unfortunately, there is not way to know for sure without taking the engine apart.
The coolant is either leaking externally or going out the exhaust pipe. Perhaps take it to a mechanic and have the cooling system pressure tested to see if the leak can be found.
