1996 subaru legacy no crank no start

when in the on position the dash lights are all on but once I go to the start
position I get nothing

Jonathan, It could be corrosion in your battery wiring, really bad grounds, crank sensor, maybe something else. Any chance you have a code reader? It might pull some info but I'm not sure.

okay here is all the things I did, I cleaned the ground, I took out an aftermarket security system, tested the ignition wire for 12 volts, bench tested the starter, tested the battery(no corrosion), I do have a code reader and I got P325,P500,505,420 none of them seem to have to do with the ignition. I am stumped

Do you own a haynes manual for your car? Are you a member of the legacy forum? I've been searching with for those codes and I'm just not finding good info. I'd recommend a haynes or factory service manual (ebay even - but I wouldn't tell forums you bought ebay manuals.. some don't like it) for your year. I'd also try to get ahold of an electrical / vacuum troubleshooting manual EVTM to go along with your service manual.
