95 legacy turns over, won't start
Car wouldn't start today. Thought I might be out of
gas, put a couple gallons in tank. It fired, ran really
rough & died. If I squirt a little gas in the air intake,
it runs good, even accelerates, then dies when that
fuel is gone. I have power at pump & even pulled
pump and wired direct to battery because I couldn't
hear it run - Seems to work fine. No schraeder
valve, so removed hose after filter & checked for
fuel flow increase while being turned over, and then
again with fuel in air intake so it would run a little
for test. Definitely have fuel pressure! Could spray
it like a garden hose with my finger. I Occasionally
get vacuum sound from gas cap when opening.
Tested one injector connector using test light -
good power. Could it be the fuel regulator? If c
sensor or something is bad, would it still run good
with fuel in intake? I wouldn't think the computer
would let it fire it all. Really frustrated now.
Well yes there is a fuel problem. But you have to check fuel pressure to know what it is. Just because it sprays good, really doesn't mean anything. But physically it sounds good. Change out the fuel filter, it could be plugged. All thats left is the fuel regulator or the fuel pump, but doing a fuel pressure test really is the only way to know for sure.
