Body swap from na to turbo Subaru

1992 Subaru Legacy
I have a rusted turbo and a clean na fwd
I know about basic part swaps and the fuel tank and lead need to be swapped
My question is about the electrical, can i just swap the ecu? If not whats
necesaary? Ive heard i need to remove the complete dash not too sure why?
Thanks any wisdom and help would be appreciated
