2000 Subaru Impreza Engine swaps

Asked by merib Apr 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM about the 2000 Subaru Impreza L Wagon

Question type: Car Customization

I need to know if there are any other engines that would swap out for a 2000 Impreza engine.  Currently I cannot find any for the correct year, so I need to broaden my search.

Thanks!

first of all what modle Impreza? I know that 99-01 Impreza RS is a direct drop in. But were theres a will theres a way. Any modle yr of any subaru will fit in you car.. If you have the money to do that.

99-01 what ever engine YOU have (1.8L, 2L, 2.2L, 2.5L) Wich ever one you have are direct drop in's, for your car.

however if you go with a 2.0L you have to have the tranny that goes to the motor or a custom built bellhouse for the origional tranny to bolt up, it's the same for some of the 2.5L as well ie an STI motor. you also will have to swap in a new wireing harness if you swap to a different size motor too, so be prepared for a bit of work if you change displacement.
