Question type: Shopping & Pricing

hi
i'm looking at a 98 with 98000 miles some minor scratches and dents, and new timing belt.  there have been 3 owners, may have been leased or rental car...do you know what mileage this model gets?  what would be a fair offer?
thanks,
jennifer

New timing belt will run you between 400-800 depending on where and who does it. Your looking at about 21 city 26 highway with that model, but with manual youll prolly be able to milk a little bit more. A fair offer would be about 5,000-7,000 depending on your definition of minor scratches and dents. Careful though a subaru at that mileage depending on its previous owners, (like you said could have been a rental car) may need some very costly maintainace, critical components start to break down at 100,000 miles even if the car has been driven nicely. If I were you I would look around a bit more, but with subaru trust me you cant go wrong, there reliable and you can push them to the limit without worring about the result. I love my Subaru, and I hope that youll join the club. Good luck.

I just registered mine the other day and the notary had to look up the value. It was listed at $5,600 in NADA. I got mine for $1,400 (but in need of repairs as it would not even start).
