Where is the thermostat located in a 1998 Subaru Impreza? Diagram/schematics would be greatly appreciated! THX :)

In more detail, I am going through a lot of anti-freeze in my overflow (a liter
every few days). Today after I drove it for only 15 minutes, I squeezed the
hose (near radiator cap) and a bunch of anti-freeze came out the top of the
radiator... looks like a 2 inch crack... HOWEVER... It hasn't overheated (as
far as the gauges are concerned) but that may be because I check my fluids
constantly.

So I probably need a new radiator but do I need a thermostat too? Maybe
water wouldn't spill out so easily if the thermostat was doing its job!?

Most cars, it'd be where the upper radiator hose goes toward the engine but your Impreza might be like my friends Legacy, hers was in a black thermostat housing where the lower radiator hose goes toward the engine.

You probably do not need a new thermostat, just a radiator which costs less than $100.
