When to replace timing belt

I have a 2002 Forester wth 195000 miles , when the timing belt needs
replaced?

No guaranteed time of how long any timing belt will last, with almost 200,000 miles I would replace it if you can to avoid a bad surprise. I am of the opinion that it is best to get a bit ahead of a probable problem; they usually happen at a time and place were it will cost more to fix the problem.

Belts should be replaced every 105,000 miles so yours is probably due for replacement. You could have the belt inspected for cracks and look on the engine to see if there is a sticker showing when the last time it was replaced.
