where is the hood release latch located in the 1996 anniversary edition..PLEASE HELP

WHERE IS THE HOOD RELEASE...BETTER YET HOW DO YOU OPEN THE HOOD ON A 1996 ANNIVERSARY EDITION CORVETTE.  BROTHER IN LAW PASSED AWAY AND THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THE HOOD OPEN TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED!!!!!!!!

http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/?wpfb_dl=595 --- here is you access to an on line owners manual. Page 6-7 shows location of hood release. Looks to be under drivers side of the dash right by the door.
