Any recalls for door problems

Asked by Bop Jan 09, 2008 at 08:47 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6 Base Minivan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having problems with the power sliding door on my van.  It won't close if the engine is running but can be closed when shut off.  However, if you start the car with the door shut there is a constant alarm bonging that won't quit.  We went to the dealer for repairs but it keeps happening.  Now its at 42,000 miles and out of warranty.  Any ideas?

No recalls on these that I'm aware of. Just an FYI, Dodge is having similar probs with their power sliders. They're just a really poorly-designed system that has a lot of failure points even with moderate regular use. I wish you luck, perhaps you can talk to the dealer you bought it from and get some repeat-customer consideration when it comes to the service bill.

My vans door did that like 3 times and we've found that pulling the door handle itself messes it up. just open the door in front of the power door and hit the button to open it. tell people not to pull the handle.
