2006 Pontiac Grand Prix will intermittently not start after new battery installed.

I recently had a new battery installed on my 2006 Grand Prix because of intermittent problems with starting the car.  It would sound like a normal start but not engage fully.  Sometime it will take 2 tries to start it, sometimes up to 12. The new battery did not solve the problem so I took it back to the repair shop, they checked the starter, altenator, connections to the battery and then hooked it up to the computer for diagnostic testing. All systems came up normal. I did have the ignition switch replaced a couple years ago during the recall and wonder if the switch could be the issue.  Any ideas?

It's hard for a shop to diagnose if its not actually acting up while they're working on it. It's unlikely its the switch although its possible. Some Pontiacs in the past have had problems with wiring at the base of the steering column, so that's a possibility. There are a number of switches and solenoids that control the starting or not of your car. You may need someone who specializes in auto electrical systems to get to the bottom of it.
