2004 Pontiac Grand over heating! After changed elbow fittings, what could it still be? Help! Just a single mom.... trying to keep cost down and fix myself!!

I have a 2004 Pontiac grand prix that over
heated and was leaking antifreeze. There
was a hole in the lower heating hose (the
little elbow fitting under the alternator). So I
changed both of the fittngs put everything
back together and drove it about 3 miles
and started over heating again. Help! There
doesn't seem to be antifreeze in the oil, but
there may be some oil in my antifreeze
overflow tank. Could I have blown a head
gasket when it over heated, or could it be
something else? Help, I haven't been
working on cars long, so I'm kind of a
novice, so please keep the responses as
simple or as detailed as possible!! I
appreciate any feedback!!

my pontiac grand prix 2001 check engine light came on. i checked the codes and the coils came up. i tried testing the coils myself with a small vacuum hose a a light tester to see if i was getting the right amount of spark and all of a sudden my car turns on but shuts off immediately after its been turned over. what could be my problem? please help 1 Answer

I bought EGR Valve & Catalytic Converter for 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8L with 225k on Friday, Saturday I had it installed, I should of done the EGR myself just I'm not good with those things & didn't know if I replaced the EGR before the Catalytic Converter if that would mess anything up one before the other as I don't want to be stranded. Only thing is after those 2 things were replaced it still runs like crap. Suggestions? I've asked around. I've been told to get it hooked up to a computer. I contacted another mechanic in MN & he told me take the throttle body off & clean well & then replace.??? 8 Answers
