Chances are good. The seventh and last generation of the Gran Prix was 2004-2008 so the transmissions should be the same.

Not correct to the best of my knowledge, in 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix V6 3.8 L was just a plain old V6 with a 4T65-E M15 — 245 mm (9.6 in) torque converter, then the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP/GXP used the 4T65E-HD (code MN7) is a heavy duty version of the 4T65-E used with more powerful engines such as the LS4 V8 and L67/L32 supercharged V6. The MN7 had a 10 inch torque converter. And these are four speed electronic transmission, also the gear ratio will be different, swap the same for the same or you will have big problems as a matter of fact it just won't work as they are two completely different trannys. This will not work. Starting in mid year 2000 models, all 4T65-E models received an upgraded valve body. Starting in 2003 ((the internal electronics were changed)), hardened 4th gear shaft, ratcheting sprags for input and third gear were added. The last application was the 2011 Chevrolet Impala as GM has transitioned to the 6T70 transmissions for 2012
