Brake prob 2004 Grand Prix

2004 Grand Prix GT... light on for low brake
fluid... fluid is not low, no leaks found
either. Parking light stays on. Brakes work
like they should. I can hear a popping
noise sounds like it’s in right rear... took tire
off... everything looks intact. Can not
duplicate the sound unless driving. Not a
clue... nothing looks loose or broke...
pulling my hair out about this dang noise
and stupid light! Help
Thought about just replacing the right rear
brake caliper...?

Could be a wheel sensor. Does the car have ABS and/or Traction Control? The light comes on when any failure in the braking system is detected (low fluid is just one thing that it indicates). Having the car scanned for error codes may help you target the problem before you start just randomly changing parts.

I do have abs and TC. The scanner I have doesn’t read brakes. It’s the popping that I hear that makes me think something is broke. Then trips the code. Maybe the brake/parking brake caliper thingie. Thanks for your reply. I’m checking everything, asking everyone... I’m onto my third mechanic buddy for another opinion. These guys race short track around here and are stumped lol... I’m not gonna take it to a dealership either, probably $50 just walking through the door, lol. Thanks Jessica
