What transmissions will on my 2002 Pontiac GP GTX ?

  I have a 2002 Grand Prix GTX, of corse supercharged. My transmission is on
its way out. Do I  have to find  the exact year & model ( GTX )  to replace mine
or would a 2002 ( GTP )  work ?  What do you say ?

A 1997 through 2003 GTP transmission should work. Make sure the information on the tag of the donor transmission matches the information on your transmission and you'll be ok. Remember too that these transmissions often experience loss of overdrive and TCC lock in. It's a very common problem with these transmissions!! If that's what has happened to yours you might consider repairing the transmission you have. The last time I checked it was about a $1500 repair. Hope that helps! Jim
