Pontiac Grand Prix won't stay runnung.

Started the car drove it 3 blocks turned it off and not it starts runs rough. got it back home can hear the fuel pump run and then stop running, RPM goes up when and if the pump starts back up. Hit the top of the fuel tank next to the fuel pump and it starts running and stays running for a short period, then it stops again and hit the top of the tank next to the fuel pump and it starts running again.

Fuel pump is done. No amount of banging will fix it. It will leave you stranded very soon. Take it in for a new one.
