It says that it should light up when u turn the key but only the Trac control light
up what could it be I would appreciate any info

Sounds like the backlight bulb(s) are burned out. Remove the DIC by removing the instrument cluster trim. It literally just pulls off. It's held on by clips. But be gentle with it. The plastic may be a little brittle. Especially if it's cold. Once you have the trim off you'll see the screws holding the DIC to the dash. Remove them and the DIC. Remove the bulb(s) and take one to your local auto parts store to be matched up. They won't have a listing for these bulbs because they're an oddball number. They'll have to match up your old one. Probably a PC73 or something similar with a PC prefix. I had a similar problem with the radio display on my '00 GT. Changed the backlight bulb and it's been fine. HTH. -Jim
