Sounds like he made you a valet key by mistake! When new your Grand Prix came with two master keys that would open everything and a valet key that would open the doors and start the engine only! To remove the glove box door look for several bolts in a line directly under the glove box door. Remove them and you can remove the door. Then you can pop the trunk. Remove the trunk lock cylinder and the key code should be stamped on the outside of the lock cylinder. Use that code to have new transponder keys made. To program your new keys start the engine with your working key. Shut off the engine and remove the key. Immediately insert the new key into the ignition lock and turn it to the run position. Do NOT try to start the engine! Watch the security light on the dash. When it goes off turn the ignition to the lock position, don't remove the key, and immediately start the engine. Your new key is now programmed! Up to 10 keys total can be programmed to the vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim
