i want to install the getrag 285 in my 96 grand prix se, and i got one out of a 96 chevy
beretta. it has the 3100 SFI V 6

It will fit but you will need to swap over the entire wiring harness and ECU. If you want to get full advantage you will also need to swap the tranny, although the existing one will work.
