Help. Who has had this happen

My car cut off on me 3x and almost once
driven. But starts right up. It loses all power.
Put it in park or neutral and starts up.

What could be the issue

Water in gas or fuel filter clogged. Check that first if neither then look into a fuel pump. If it happens only when coming to a stop probably the torque converter.
