My son's 2004 GP gt, has new thermostate but still goes to max overheat then right back down to normal temp on reg basis, does not lose antifreeze. any ideas???? Was told NOT to flush

Used car dealer had to fix transmission it was slipping bad... but didn't say exactly what was done. Temp shoots up to max overheat then goes right back down to normal. Replaced thermostat. It does this all the time, but it does not smell burnt or like antifreeze and it is not using antifreeze. Seems like fan is fine...no dampness in interior....Don't have a clue what it could be. Was told NOT to flush radiator. Any help and ideas are greatly appreciated!!!!!

First thought. There's air in the system. Second thought. The temperature sending unit is bad.

To bleed the air out of the radiator, go to YouTube and watch a video on how to get it done. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that you have air in the system.
