Replace brake pads, still hear grinding. Why is this?

What did your rotors look like? Were they good and smooth or did they have ridges in them? If there are ridges replace the rotors. Also did you apply brake pad grease to the back side of the new pads? If not you could be hearing the back side of the pads rubbing against the caliper.

Rotors are smooth and no ridges. Yes I did use pad grease.
Do you have drum brakes on the rear wheels? If you do and you only replaced the front disc pads, the rear drums and shoes would be the first place I would look.

I did the same thing to my car and it turns out to be the front left wheelbearing replaced both front bearings and that fixed the problem
