Starting

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My grand am won’t start in the morning when the
engine is cool, if I spray starting fluid in the intake
it’ll start. After I get it started in the morning it’ll start
and run all day, it seems to be 8 hours or more and
it won’t start. I took it to a shop to have the
computer read and it said that the tps was bad and
the mass airflow sensor was bad. I changed them, I
put new plugs and wires on it as well as new coils
and a new ignition mod. The problem persists, I
have good fuel pressure and plenty of air I believe, I
don’t know what else it could be

Sounds like a dirty throttle body clean with throttle body cleaner. Also add some fuel injector cleaner to gas tank and if you use the low gas all the time every other fill up use the middle grade gas will help keep throttle body clean.

Ok thank you, I will try that for a couple days and report back!

Did you have the engine codes scanned after you changed the TPS and MAF? You may still have a bad component.

I did not, if cleaning the throttle body doesn’t fix it then I’ll have it read again

I cleaned the throttle body, it was dirty nasty. It didn’t fix the problem. Today I put injector cleaner in the gas, and intake valve cleaner in the intake, we’ll see tomorrow if that fixes it or not

So all of that didn’t fix it, I’m not sure where I’m at now. I’ll take it to a shop to have it read again soon and send updates
