03 Grand Am won’t stay running

Asked by Pharoah1398 Dec 30, 2017 at 05:22 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 03 Grand Am is very hard to keep running. It
immediately starts then immediately shuts off,
unless I hold the gas and rev the engine for a few
minutes. When I get it to stay on, it seems to run
fine. Every now and then it will shut off while driving.
No trouble codes or lights on the dash. I recently
changed the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator
but the issues remains. The fuel pump is less than
2.5 years old and it seems to be getting plenty of
fuel. No security issue. If I put the car in neutral and
hold the throttle steady, the engine stalls and lopes
at about 4000 rpm. Air filter and throttle body are
clean and I did the sea foam spray treatment as
well. What could be causing this issue.
