car keeps messing up 02 grand am

week ago my 02 grandam started to turn over slowly but started yesterday  i
was on my way home an going down the highway at 55mph the RPM jumps up
to 2k 2.5k then dies the car will start an run but one put into gear it dies anyone
help?

scan for codes , check the monitors , it sounds like the ecm (brain) is going bad but you should test these things before replacing so you're not throwing $$ out the window
