2002 pontiac grand am se

trans slips in lower gear and at the same time the coolant light goes on.once it goes back into gear the car drives fine. it only happens in 1 st to 2cnd gear.
was gonna chase compuer issues before anything else.
ant hints would be helpful

Try the transmission control module. It may need to be reprogrammed (a simple fix by a GM dealer). Also you may wish to have the electrical tested. The coolant light is typically for the engines cooling system however trans fluid also can run low and overheat without a trans fluid heater or cooler (typically used in extreme climates).
