How do I check transmission fluid in 02 Pontiac?

I found a red cap on the engine
wit a symbol of a gear on it.

That dipstick goes into the tranny- it must be checked with the tranny warm and the engine running- be careful- when the engine is running there are things turning around in there- no long sleeves or loose jewelry-
