I have a 2001 grand am Pontiac. It's over heating. But when I drive for a little bit it goes down. To 100 but it doesn't move anymore the rest of the day. I have to keep buying oil for the engine.

if you have to keep buying oil for your car then it could be your head gasket leaking oil. which would also cause the car to over heat because there is not enough lubrication to keep the friction down. i would also check the oil filter.

I have a 99 pontiac grand am se 3.4L V6. The issue is that it starts and idles fine but as soon as I go to accelerate it just shuts off. It did have overheating issues but right after I fixed those it started doing this. I replaced the cam position sensor and also the engine coolant temp sensor and it didnt help. I was thinking of replacing the ignition coil packs and housi g but not sure if that would fix it. There are no check engine lights or stored codes . 4 Answers

I had the ignition replaced and the sensor monitor checked out fine. The battery and alternator are good. The car wont even turn over when I try to start it.. Got a jump and it didn't work.
