why is my oil leaking on the block theres a puddle on the block and its running hot and will not ingest engine coolant

Just startnkt sure if it's new or old oil that's been sitting there also earlier today it overflowed coolent I put water in cuz that's all I had at the time and it sucked the water down it overheating really fast any suggestions

I have seen a bad head gasket cause an external oil leak. If the water is not leaking out then it must be going out the exhaust pipe. Coolant going out the exhaust indicates bad cylinder head, bad head gasket, cracked engine block and on some cars bad intake manifold gaskets.

check the oil pressure sending unit for you oil leak it can make look like a bad gasket but it is a simpler fix
