Brakes

Asked by gregvoris Jun 22, 2017 at 09:23 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ran front pads metal to metal. Replaced both front rotors. Replaced both
front calipers. Replaced pads on both sides with new ceramics. Bled
system 10 times adding brake fluid each time. No pedal. With car running
pedal goes all the way down and I hear a whooshing sound from near the
brake pedal. From reading and videos on the internet if the booster is bad
you will have a hard pedal. I have no pedal.  ??????

Are you getting a strong flow of fluid from the bleeder screws? if not. Check for a loose bleeder screw. or a broken brake line in the system. Also check to make sure there is no brake fluid leaking around the copper washers where the rubber line bolts to the caliper.

if your getting fluid out the caliper i would check the vacuum hose to the BRAKE BOOSTER and if all that is correct its either master cylinder or brake booster bad let me know
