Why will my car not start every time?

Asked by jfisherva1976 Nov 12, 2013 at 07:07 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 Dr GT Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 Pontiac Grand Am. Recently, it has had been difficult to start. I had the
battery checked and it was shot, but under warranty so I had it replaced. The alternator
and battery are fine. It still takes 5 of 6 tries to get it to start. Sometimes when you turn
the key, it there is not even a response at all, just like the battery were completely
dead. Then after a few tries it will crank. I had it checked by a service center today, and
they could find nothing at all wrong with it. The terminals are clean and secure on the
battery, I initially thought it may be a failing starter. I am now thinking it may be a bare
wire, but what else could it possibly be?
