automatic transmission in 1999 pontiac grand am gt lost all drive gears with no warning signs still has reverse, i changed fluid/filter still reverse only, why?

Sounds like an internal problem, possibly a clutch pack or even a broken band. Most likely time for a tranny overhaul or replacement.
