What engines are compatible with a 95 Grand Am SE

Asked by Mario/Ruby Jun 26, 2017 at 08:15 PM about the 1995 Pontiac Grand Am 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Grand Am with a 3100 Series V6 Engine that has been
overheating for a while, a friend of mine has a 96 or 97 Chevy Lumina 3100
Series V6 engine that still runs, the car is not driveable but the Engine and
Transmission are still in good shape. I can have it for free if it fits.  Please help
with this question.  Thank you.

IF IT THE HEAD GASKET/CRACKED HEAD IS FIXABLE.. THE BLOCK BEING BAD IS THE ONLY TIME I WOULD EVEN THINK ABOUT A SWAP...WHATS IT DOING? TELL USE EVERYTHING RELATED TO IT OVER HEATING NOW...IS YOUR BEST BET!

Hello Kelly, I used some Blue Devil head gasket repair on the car and seems to have worked some. this Engine has 200K miles on it and the one my friend is giving me only has 90K so I thought maybe I would be better off swapping the engine. I don't think the Engine on my Grand Am is worth taking to the mechanic to get fixed anymore.
