Did you have the cylinder head checked when you had it off. The quad four and its single cam baby sister both had nasty cylinder and block cracking problems after even a mild overheat. A compression check should be able to confirm block cracking but a leakdown test using high pressure shop air will test the integrity of the head, valves and head gasket.
