My Montero Sport would not start recently. In testing two different OBDII scanners will not communicate with the ECM. What's my next step?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Originally thought it was the fuel pump but that's not the problem. Is it time for a
new ECM?

Not sure what the DLC connector is. If it is the OBDII port than it has power. One of the scanners is powered by the power in the OBDII port. I have the 4 page electrical schematics. (ALLDATA?) I don't see a DLC connector but am happy to test it if I can find it. Presently determining if the ECM has power per the schematic. Grounds have been tested. Forwards and backwards. Wow!!! What a pain in the neck!

Data link connector (DLC) ok we know it has power, now back to your condition. you say it does not start? does it crank (turn over) ?

Yes it does crank. But not start. No relays can be heard upon turning key to on position. Fuel pump is not coming on either. And I have since confirmed that I have power to the ECM. I also confirm I have power to the fuel pump rely and the fuel injection relay. Pins 21 and 49 on the ECM are not sending the signal to ground so the circuits can be completed for these relays. I bypassed the relays to test them and the fuel pump comes on like it should. Also all grounds have been tested and retested. I'm thinking the ECM is toast. Thanks for you help ahead of time.
